Dave Hembrough
Dave Hembrough is the founder and head coach of mettle.
Dave is an experienced coach with a background in strength and conditioning and sport science. He initially used Olympic Weightlifting to train athletes from a range of different sports including the GB womens volleyball team, the England Table Tennis Squad, British Diving athletes, golfers, boxers and ice hockey players. Training and competing in weightlifting himself Dave set up the club in 2009 to formalise a small group of likeminded people. Over time the club has grown and with it Daves interests changed. He still wants to support athletes to be the best they can be but also wants to support people personally to experience a happier, healthier, fitter, stronger and more fulfilling life through physical activity and the lifting of weights.
Dave has been training weightlifters and athletes for over 20 years. This includes world champions in boxing, golf and downhill mountain biking, athletes at London 2012 Olympic Games and Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. Dave has coached weightlifters at a national and international level and enjoys supporting and developing coaches too. Daves qualifications include a Sport Science BSc, Sport Therapy and rehabilitation MSc, Business Engagement PGDip, UKSCA Accreditation and a L2 BWL weightlifting award.
